  1.        Mastercard Foundation is partnering with University of Cape Town to offer 100% free Undergraduate and Post-graduate  scholarship to Africa students who are from economically disadvantaged communities but could not continue as a result of poor family background.

  3. Brief description : The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Programme(MCFSP) for African students is now open for candidates who wants to apply at University of Cape town,South africa for 2020/2021 academic year

  4. Eligibility and criteria:

  6.   Candidates who are applying for this scholarship MUST meet up with the following criteria;

  8.   Undergraduates:
             NOTE! Please be Informed that University of Cape town is no longer accepting applications for undergraduate entry.

  1. *Must be a resident and a citizen of sub-Saharan Africa
  2. *Must have strong academic performance 
  3. *Must demonstrate interest and capacity for voluntary services and school/community activities
  4. *Must posses leadership potential
  5. *Will be willing to cope with change and have interest foreign countries and culture
  6. *Must be financially unstable and from lowest income bracket in country of origin
  7. *Must be willing to return to serve their home country and enhance economic growth and social development at the end of the program
  8. * Must have successfully completed their secondary education  with good grades
  9. *Transfer students are not eligible

  6.       The University of Cape Town (UCT) has partnered with the Mastercard Foundation in its global Scholars’ Program: an educational initiative that provides academically talented young people from economically disadvantaged communities in Africa with access to quality university education.  
    The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UCT provides full-cost scholarships to young Africans who are first-time undergraduate or postgraduate (honours and master’s) degree-seeking applicants. The scholarships ensure a premium educational package that will produce graduates whose qualifications are internationally recognised and locally applicable, and whose transition into the workforce is underpinned by values of engaged citizenship and social justice.
    These scholarships cover the full period of study and are renewable annually subject to satisfactory performance and participation in the activities and opportunities offered by the programme. Successful candidates will be required to commit themselves to returning to their home countries and to invest their gained skills and education in their country’s social and economic growth.
